Hard Choices

What makes a choice hard is how the outcomes relate. In an easy choice one outcome is better than the other. Hard choice there are pros and cons on both sides… You agonize over the decision. This is me… I list the pros and cons. Ailing parents Pros - Parents will be cared for. I know they are checked on. I live so far away. Cons I have heard horror stories. They are cared for by people I don’t know. Will they be loved and treated with care? Job Pros… It has a better chance of advancement. I will have a new boss. It is a new challenge. Cons I will have to uproot my family. How will my kids react? Will my spouse be able to find a new job? Will they like it? Will I like it? I weigh all the options and what would be best… I bet I am not the only one. If only God would send me YouTube or Netflix would send me a video of my two possible choices… I would compare them side beside and the choice would be easy. But I haven’t gotten one, how about you? What do most of you do, take the safest option. I could do this all day… Hard decisions are hard to make…

From Series: "The Hidden Option"

We live in a polarized world. We want everything to fit in box A or B, option 1 or 2. Fight or flight. Black or white. Left or right. But the Bible is filled with unexpected, hidden options. In this two-week series, “The Hidden Option” will explore how God can take seemingly impossible situations and use them for his glory. Our God is bigger than just two options. Jesus is the lion and the lamb. God is completely just and He extends grace. Those things seem like impossibilities, but they are actually hidden options. By learning to find hidden options, you can become a better spouse, a better employee, a better friend, and even a better follower of Christ.
